The star of “ses festes” in Menorca
The “Festes de Sant Joan” in Ciutadella mark the beginning of summer in Menorca. Dating back to the 14th century, they remain faithful to tradition with three ingredients that make them unique: the Menorcan breed horse, “caixers” and “cavallers” (riders). Three protagonists who dance to the sound of the typical music of Menorca’s festivities, with the “jaleo” as its greatest expression. A harmony capable of uniting an entire town, like the star drink of “Ses Festes”, Pomad@ by Destilerias Xoriguer, always served very, very cold, almost frozen.
Besides marking the beginning of summer, Sant Joan is the first of Menorca’s patron saint festivals. Until mid-September, in all the towns of the island and in some villages and urbanisations, the ritual of the horse, the music, the Pomada and the joy is experienced.
